Role Overview: The Lead Cable Cribbing Person is a senior cable handler who provides on-site leadership within the cable crib (barge cable pan). This position works alongside the crew, setting the pace and technique for safely coiling a long fiber-optic submarine cable. Acting as the in-crib team lead, this person ensures each cable loop is properly laid and communicates directly with the Shift Crew Lead and L3Harris?s technical supervisor for any immediate adjustments. Key Responsibilities: Direct and lead the cable handling process inside the barge?s cable pan. Orchestrate the continuous ?walking? of cable loops around the 30? diameter crib, maintaining proper spacing and layering. Set the work tempo: signal to cable handlers when to slow, stop, or adjust as needed to synchronize with the cable feed rate from machinery. Provide real-time guidance to the 10 Cable Cribbing Laborers on shift (e.g., rotate personnel to avoid fatigue, ?hold this loop here,? ?next person take over walking?). Confirm each cable turn is neatly and securely arranged in the pan, using safe techniques to avoid kinks or crossovers. Inspect loops and connectors and reposition if necessary before moving on. Serve as primary liaison between the Crew Lead (Shift Supervisor) and the laborers in the crib. Ensure the crew implements any instructions from L3Harrs?s site lead effectively. Assist with hands-on tasks alongside the crew: e.g., physically walking loops of cable to relieve crew members, helping guide heavy connectors onto carts, etc., especially for tricky maneuvers or critical moments. Promote on-site safety and quality: watch for any unsafe practices or signs of strain in cable; call for a pause if needed to correct an issue (e.g., reposition a mislaid loop). Role Overview: The Lead Cable Cribbing Person is a senior cable handler who provides on-site leadership within the cable crib (barge cable pan). This position works alongside the crew, setting the pace and technique for safely coiling a long fiber-optic submarine cable. Acting as the in-crib team lead, this person ensures each cable loop is properly laid and communicates directly with the Shift Crew Lead and L3Harris?s technical supervisor for any immediate adjustments. Key Responsibilities: Direct and lead the cable handling process inside the barge?s cable pan. Orchestrate the continuous ?walking? of cable loops around the 30? diameter crib, maintaining proper spacing and layering. Set the work tempo: signal to cable handlers when to slow, stop, or adjust as needed to synchronize with the cable feed rate from machinery. Provide real-time guidance to the 10 Cable Cribbing Laborers on shift (e.g., rotate personnel to avoid fatigue, ?hold this loop here,? ?next person take over walking?). Confirm each cable turn is neatly and securely arranged in the pan, using safe techniques to avoid kinks or crossovers. Inspect loops and connectors and reposition if necessary before moving on. Serve as primary liaison between the Crew Lead (Shift Supervisor) and the laborers in the crib. Ensure the crew implements any instructions from L3Harrs?s site lead effectively. Assist with hands-on tasks alongside the crew: e.g., physically walking loops of cable to relieve crew members, helping guide heavy connectors onto carts, etc., especially for tricky maneuvers or critical moments. Promote on-site safety and quality: watch for any unsafe practices or signs of strain in cable; call for a pause if needed to correct an issue (e.g., reposition a mislaid loop). Role Overview: The Crib Out-Take Monitor is responsible for continuously observing the submarine cable as it exits the barge?s cable crib (pan) and heads onshore. This is a critical safety and quality role focused on detecting any potential problems (snags, entanglements, abnormal tension) at the moment the cable leaves the pan. The person in this position serves as the eyes on the cable feed and acts as an immediate alert system to prevent cable damage or accidents. Key Responsibilities: Stationed at the cable egress point (where cable goes from barge to shore) for the entire shift. Maintain a clear line of sight on the moving cable and connectors as they travel out of the pan. Continuously monitor cable tension and alignment. Look for any subtle signs of issues, such as cable rubbing on edges, loops lifting incorrectly, or jerking motions that indicate a snag or tangle. Immediately communicate and intervene when an anomaly is observed. Use pre-agreed hand signals, a horn, or a designated radio channel to signal the equipment operator and Crew Lead to STOP the cable feed if needed. Assist in resolution: Work with the crew to help identify the cause of a snag (point it out, if visible) and verify when it?s cleared so operations can resume. Keep a log of any events or near-misses observed during the shift for reporting and continuous improvement. When cable feed is running smoothly, remain vigilant and not distracted by other tasks. Role Overview: The Crew Lead / Shift Supervisor is the on-site team leader for our cable handling crew during 12-hour shifts. This role oversees all crew activities on a barge, coordinates with the prime contractor?s supervisors, and ensures safe, efficient completion of undersea cable loading tasks. The Crew Lead also handles shift-level administration such as timekeeping and crew logistics. Key Responsibilities: ? Supervise a crew of 12 cable handlers on a continuous 12-hour shift. ? Serve as single point of contact with the prime contractor?s site lead for daily instructions and safety coordination. ? Plan and delegate tasks (cable positioning, connector handling, monitoring duties) to crew members and adjust in real-time to maintain pace. ? Monitor crew performance, conduct shift briefings and debriefings, and resolve any on-site issues swiftly (e.g., reposition crew if needed or address safety concerns). ? Maintain accurate daily labor records/timesheets and ensure all hours are approved (our electronic timekeeping system is used, with this Crew Lead verifying entries). ? Ensure critical crew functions are covered at all times, including personally stepping in if needed to maintain continuous operations (e.g., filling a gap due to a brief absence). ?
