An employer is seeking a highly skilled Tier I Helpdesk Technician to join one of our largest national and most established financial institutions in North America. In this role you’ll be joining the client services team and answering calls and emails from clients who are experiencing difficulties utilizing this client’s external facing website. You could be interfacing with any customer this client has, anywhere from a traditional retail banking client to an ultra-high net worth individual who is seeking an elevated level of service. In order to be successful on this team you must be comfortable having conversations on the phone, and being patient with users, as some may have limited technical ability. Any prior experience within a corporate setting, or within a helpdesk setting, will help you be successful on this team. The ideal candidate has an A+ CompTIA certification or related IT degree and is comfortable with troubleshooting technical issues across various platforms, including Windows, iOS/Android, Outlook, Webex, and Microsoft Office. This team goes on site 4x/week in downtown Minneapolis; therefore, you must be comfortable with that commute each day. Most team members work from home on Mondays or Fridays, but per leadership approval you’re welcome to work from home one a different day if that works better in your schedule. Job Description Summary:Participates in the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of new software features and enhancements to existing systems. This role works closely with engineering managers, senior developers, and cross-functional partners to support learner, faculty, and internal operational experiences across Courseroom, Canvas integrations, internally designed faculty applications, and platform capabilities.The Software Developer will contribute to full stack application development with a stronger emphasis on backend services, Python development, APIs, data workflows, and system integrations. This role will also support frontend development when needed, helping deliver reliable, maintainable, secure, and user-friendly solutions while continuing to grow technical depth across the full stack.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:? Contribute to Courseroom, Faculty Action Center, and platform initiatives under the guidance of senior engineers and engineering managers.? Develop, test, and support backend-focused applications and services using Python while contributing to frontend functionality when needed.? Assist with building and maintaining APIs, integrations, data workflows, and automation that support learner experiences, Canvas extensions, and internal platform capabilities.? Contribute to frontend development using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and frameworks such as Nuxt, Vue, or React when full stack delivery requires user-facing functionality.? Work closely with engineering managers and senior developers to understand requirements, break down assigned work, and deliver features iteratively.? Build and consume APIs, including REST/JSON services, with attention to reliability, readability, documentation, and maintainability.? Write database queries, support data troubleshooting, and contribute to database changes under the guidance of senior team members.? Write clear, maintainable code and participate in unit testing, code reviews, and code quality practices.? Participate in solution development, code reviews, and team discussions while learning established architecture patterns and engineering practices.? Troubleshoot application issues across backend services, integrations, data, and frontend components with support from senior engineers as needed.? Apply secure coding, accessibility, performance, and maintainability practices as part of day-to-day development work.? Review application logs, metrics, and user-impact indicators to help identify and resolve issues.? Use GitLab for source control, branching, merging, code reviews, and CI/CD workflows.? Stay current with backend engineering, Python development, cloud-based application development, frontend frameworks, and integration patterns.What you’ll bring:? Job Description Summary:The Technical Operations Engineer serves as a key contributor responsible for ensuring the successful operation, support, and continuous improvement of internally developed applications and platforms. This role combines Tier 2 application support, project coordination, and software development to improve operational efficiency and enhance the user experience.Initially, this position will focus on resolving escalated application support requests, investigating technical issues, coordinating cross-functional initiatives, and documenting solutions. As operational support responsibilities transition to other teams, this role will increasingly contribute to application enhancements, automation, and software development efforts that improve platform capabilities and reduce operational overhead.The ideal candidate is a technically curious problem solver who enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, collaborating across teams, and building solutions that improve both systems and processes.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:-Provide Tier 2 application support by troubleshooting complex issues, identifying root causes, and resolving incidents within established SLAs.-Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders to coordinate issue resolution and project execution.-Analyze recurring support requests and recommend process improvements, documentation, or automation opportunities.-Participate in project planning activities by tracking milestones, coordinating deliverables, and facilitating communication across teams.-Assist with backlog refinement, requirements gathering, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.-Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities and validate completed work prior to production deployment.-Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and operational procedures.-Develop small application enhancements, bug fixes, utilities, and automation scripts to improve operational efficiency.-Participate in code reviews and contribute to GitLab source control and CI/CD practices.-Build and maintain integrations using REST APIs and modern development practices.-Continuously identify opportunities to eliminate repetitive manual work through automation and process improvements.-Monitor application health and proactively identify issues affecting system performance or user experience.-Build strong relationships across teams while serving as a trusted technical resource.We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
