5 Things You Didn’t Know About ESG at Insight Global

At Insight Global’s “Without Limits” conference, we learned how to create change within our company – and beyond. Jenny Sabo (VP of HR and ESG) taught us specifically about IG’s commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).

ESG at Insight Global

ESG is our collective impact on our people, the planet, and the communities in which we operate. Let’s break it down…

Environmental: Yes, this is about how we take care of the planet, but it’s also about how we develop a sustainable workforce.

Social: This is our big focus, the way we support, develop, and grow our people.

Governance: It’s the systems and structures we put in place to ensure we’re living out our commitments to our people and the planet.

If you’re looking to dig deeper into what ESG means for IG, here are five takeaways from “Without Limits.”

ESG is Gritty

According to author and psychologist Angela Duckworth, grit is the “combination of passion and perseverance.” When you have grit, you know what you want, and you’re willing to work for it, even when obstacles stand in your way.

A genuine commitment to ESG means doing the right thing, even when it’s hard. For example:

  • updating systems and processes to go paperless (E)
  • investing in company wellness programs like Grow Counseling and parental leave (S)
  • ensuring executive buy-in and building a dedicated team to direct ESG programs (G)

Our ESG leaders themselves are gritty. They are following their passions by taking initiative, setting goals, and building programs so that IG can be the light to the world around us.

“Be the Light” Isn’t Just a Slogan

During the conference, Matt Gonsalvez (VP of IGT Sales) pumped up the crowd to raise over $200,000 in just five minutes… And the donations kept coming in. At the end of the event, 1150 people had donated a collective $554,512 for the Be the Light Fund (BTL Fund), which puts us at a total of $967,500 this year. We expect to hit our $1 million goal raised from employees and partners, and combined with the $2 million from IG, we are projected to contribute $3 million to our charity partners in 2022.

The BTL Fund supports multiple charity partners, including:

  • IG Family Foundation
  • OneWorld Health
  • Girl Scouts of America
  • Susan G. Komen
  • Year Up
  • Make-A-Wish Foundation
  • The Nature Conservancy
  • Team Rubicon

While financial support is incredibly important, IG leaders and employees support these partners by giving their time to serving as well. In fact, IG gives all of its internal employees a full week of paid time off to serve the community.

Company Growth = ESG Growth

Sam Kaufman (Chief Revenue Officer) discussed our projected revenue for 2022. He spoke about what those dollars mean and how company growth impacts our own people. More contest winners and commissions. More opportunities for new employees to join IG and for existing employees to earn promotions. And as IG grows, that means we’re offering more people the opportunity to work.

But IG can’t grow if we don’t practice care and accountability with each other.

Everyone Can Impact ESG

Leadership sets the standard for ESG, but everyone has their part to play. Even the smallest of lights shine brightly in the darkness. How can you improve just one person’s day? How can you best serve your team?

Here are a few ideas to get started with ESG, either here at IG or at your own workplace.

Figure out where your passions align with ESG. How can you get involved at your workplace, in your community, or even globally? Look for opportunities to make a positive impact on the people around you.

Final Thoughts on ESG

ESG is about taking care of yourself, your surroundings, and the people around you. Don’t just dream of a future without limits – work to make it happen.
