Boiler and Chiller Operator

North Druid Hills, GA

The Boiler and Chiller Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of high-pressure steam boilers and industrial chiller systems. Operators will supplement staff to ensure continuous 24/7 coverage, maintaining critical utility systems for hospital operations, patient care, infection control, sterilization, and comfort cooling. This position requires dual qualifications to operate both boiler and chiller systems, with a primary focus on boiler plant operations due to life safety priorities.Key Responsibilities:Boiler Plant Operations:?Operate and monitor up to four Cleaver-Brooks high-pressure steam boilers (10,000 lb/hr each).?Maintain optimal steam pressures and combustion efficiency through system adjustments.?Perform and log water quality testing, adding chemicals as needed.?Ensure no high-pressure boiler is left unattended, coordinating relief coverage.?Record operational data at prescribed intervals ?Engage with boiler plant components, including DA tanks, condensate tanks, and associated systems, for monitoring and operator-level maintenance.Chiller Plant Operations:?Operate and monitor large-capacity chiller units (Trane and York Centrifugals; 1,000-ton each), cooling towers, and pumps.?Maintain chilled water supply temperatures through system adjustments.?Respond to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and out-of-range conditions.?Coordinate chiller startups or shutdowns with facility Engineering.Equipment Monitoring and Rounds:?Conduct full equipment inspections (boilers, chillers, pumps, compressors, etc.) ?Monitor critical utility alarms (e.g., fire pumps, emergency power) via BMS.Preventive Maintenance:?Perform operator-level maintenance, including lubrication, belt changes, cleaning strainers, and resetting trips.?Maintain plant cleanliness and perform minor painting or touch-up as directed.Emergency Response:?Respond to alarms and utility emergencies campus-wide during after-hours and weekends.?Stabilize equipment immediately and escalate issues to on-call leadership.Communication and Reporting:?Complete turnover briefings with incoming shifts.?Submit daily logs, incident reports, and maintenance documentation.?Immediately report regulatory non-compliance, safety hazards, or equipment failures.We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. ?Act as the primary project-based estimator embedded in execution teams, providing real-time cost support from construction kickoff through project closeout.?Develop detailed change order estimates rapidly and accurately, clearly articulating cost impacts, schedule implications, and risk exposure.?Perform continuous cost forecasting, including monthly Estimate at Completion (EAC), variance analysis (budget vs. actuals vs. forecast), and clear communication of drivers to project leadership.?Monitor and analyze construction productivity on site; identify deviations early, quantify impacts, and collaborate with field teams on corrective actions.?Conduct risk identification, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, and maintain risk registers with associated cost contingencies throughout execution.?Lead value engineering (VE) and design option estimating during construction, delivering fast-turnaround cost comparisons to support critical decision-making.?Create what-if scenario estimates to evaluate execution strategy changes, acceleration options, and recovery plans.?Track baseline adherence, identify emerging cost trends, and proactively escalate risks while communicating opportunities using efficient and visually compelling methods.?Responsible for capturing actual costs, productivity metrics, and execution lessons; deliver benchmarking analysis framework and insights back to the pre-development estimating department to improve baseline estimates.?Contributes to the development of long-term estimation methodologies, tools, and systems specifically tailored for both pre-construction and execution-phase CAPEX projects.?Assist in preparing cost information for project funding requests, monthly forecasts, and leadership reviews.?Collaborate with Finance on estimate performance tracking, variance reconciliation, and continuous improvement of cost models.We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. You will collaborate closely with flight sciences, systems, and mission engineering teams to translate aircraft-level and mission requirements into analyzable, testable solutions using simulation, modeling, and system integration activities. The position includes hands-on involvement in system integration, simulation-based analysis, verification testing, and flight or ground test support, working directly with customers to resolve technical challenges throughout the program lifecycle.
