Job Description:Insight Global is seeking a Process Control Engineer for a top chemical manufacturing client in Havre de Grace, MD. This individual will serve as a key technical resource in a union plant environment, providing hands-on support for process automation, control systems, and instrumentation, with a strong focus on improving process stability, reducing variability, and driving a Right First Time operating culture. The role involves troubleshooting and supporting legacy PLC systems, upgrading older PLCs, adding and configuring instrumentation such as temperature probes and sensors, and working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (including Aspen Process Explorer) to improve data visibility through new tag development. In this role you’ll join a growing team to support several applications used to expand their newer banking division. This hiring manager was previously doing this role, but recently got promoted and is looking to identify his successor. This role will primarily consist of alleviating roadblocks for developers so they can effectively push out new code. Your day to day duties could consist of doing active directory, permissions or security access work, analyzing where data is coming from, (could be coming from their mainframe system, sql or other databases), managing deployment schedules, and tracking & validating data. The ideal candidate will have either a background within application development or infrastructure, but an infrastructure background is preferred, and know enough to have productive conversations with the development team to push results forward. This team works within an OCP Redhat environment, but you don’t need to be an expert in that space to be successful in this role. They also are working within Windows infrastructure. This role is a 6 month contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for conversion once the initial contract completes.
