Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Tier 3)

Merrillville, IN

A U.S. based manufacturer best known for its truck-mounted vacuum and industrial cleaning equipment is seeking a skilled Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join their expanding company. The Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic serves as a lead technical resource responsible for diagnosing complex issues, performing advanced repairs, and overseeing preventative maintenance (PM) programs on truck-mounted vacuum equipment and, when applicable, the truck chassis. This position provides hands-on technical experience along with exposure to shop operations, workflow coordination, and customer interaction. Most of the work will be performed in the shop with an occasional field service call. In addition to strong technical ability, this role is designed for an individual who demonstrates leadership potential and an interest in developing into future leadership opportunities. This position provides opportunities to mentor technicians, support operational improvements, and gain exposure to service management responsibilities. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be under the direction of the Service Manager. This role performs service and repair procedures on truck-mounted vacuum equipment both in the shop and in the field. Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, conducting PM inspections, and ensuring equipment meets ?Ready to Rent? standards. Occasional travel for field service calls and training is required.
