The ECM directly supervises Environmental Technicians (ET?s) to ensure safe, productive, efficient, and compliant environmental operations at various sites throughout California. This position has direct responsibility for conducting and/or overseeing on-site fieldwork associated with sampling, monitoring, observing, and recording environmental data; and preparing reports, records, and plans required by regulatory permit, plan, or agreement. The ECM assists in the overall planning, design, installation, and operation of pollution control equipment and associated metering and/or measuring devices. The ECM delivers training programs and provides other advice to management on practical and necessary steps to prevent or abate pollution arising from operations and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements contained within a variety of environmental permits, plans and policies. The ECM provides appropriate notifications to management and appropriate regulatory agencies.The ECM maintains regional metals recycling and automobile salvage facilities in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws, standards, and permits and has responsibilityfor maintaining facility compliance with applicable environmental permit conditions. The Environmental Control Systems Operator (ECSO) reports directly to the Regional Environmental Manager (REM), and indirectly to the Regional Directors for SSI?s Auto and Metals Recycling Business (AMR) division. The ECSO?s work activities may be supervised by local and/or national employees within the SSI Environmental Department. The ECSO is responsible for implementation of, and compliance with, company policies and procedural plans related to all environmental media, including air, stormwater, groundwater, solid, and/or hazardous waste. The ECSO assists the Regional Environmental Managers (REMs) by operating and maintaining environmental control systems (ECSs) (stormwater treatment systems and air discharge emission control systems) in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws, standards, and permits; and has responsibility for maintaining facility compliance with all applicable ECS permit conditions.This position has direct responsibility for operating ECSs, conducting on-site fieldwork associated with sampling, monitoring, observing, and recording environmental data; and providing accurate and useful information to the REM and facility managers (upon request). The ECSO assists in the overall planning, design, installation, and has direct first line responsibility for effective operation of ECSs and associated metering and/or measuring devices. The ECSO may also assist the REM in providing immediate environmental emergency responses to ECS upset conditions, environmental incidents, spills, releases, and accidents. This person would not be receiving inspections but would be working in-process and final inspections as well as be responsible for completed FAI packages (in conjunction with QE). You?ll own inspections across the full production lifecycle?in-process, first article, and final?and play a critical role in verifying every component is compliant before it?s cleared for shipment or flight.Day to Day:Visual inspections: Perform detailed visual inspections to defined standards. Documentation & traceability: Record data and maintain accurate quality records (logs, reports, CoCs), ensuring full traceability for every inspected part; review shop job packages. Discrepancy reporting: Identify and document nonconformances (NCRs) and partner with Quality Engineering, Engineering, and Production on corrective actions or rework recommendations.
