Insight Global is seeking a Project Engineer who sits in Chicago, IL to join a national architectural, interiors, program and construction management and Infrastructure firm based in Washington, DC. This person will serve as a key field and documentation lead across engineering and construction projects, supporting QC/QA, project tracking, contractor coordination, schedule oversight, and onsite issue resolution. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, enjoys hands-on field work, and can communicate effectively across agencies, contractors, and residents. The engineer will also help drive continuous improvement by mentoring junior staff and capturing lessons learned throughout each project lifecycle.Day to Day:?Lead/manage key components of engineering and construction projects?Review/manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, pay applications, and progress reports?Maintain and update the pay application log; verify paid/incidental quantities?Perform QC/QA in accordance with SSRBC standards?Conduct yield checks and resolve contractor misunderstandings?Review drawings/specs to proactively identify construction challenges?Track project schedules and flag delays tied to utilities, approvals, or submittals?Prepare resident letters, meeting agendas, and meeting minutes?Support change order development and justification?Lead emergency response coordination for utility hits and urgent field issues?Conduct field inspections for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance?Perform peer reviews of drawings and calculations?Communicate with contractors, residents, alderman?s office, CDOT, DWM, DEO, CMQA QC Plan, and Landscape teams?Coordinate closely with DWM sewer and water inspectors?Support client meetings with updates and documentation?Mentor junior staff and assist in professional development?Capture lessons learned and contribute to process improvementsNotes:We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
