The celebration of Black History Month is actively taking place at Insight Global with engaging employee events led by the company’s Black Employee Experience (BEE), Employee Network Resource Group. Led by Insight Global employees Jakayla Storey and Kahlil Bostick, BEE has taken charge of fostering awareness and hosting events throughout the month to show appreciation of Black history and culture.
This month’s theme is Courage & Conviction and focuses on celebrating Black businesses and entrepreneurs. To kick off the theme, on February 11th, BEE held a virtual Black Entrepreneurs Panel featuring Camaran Burke, owner of Holiday Bar Atlanta, Nicole Barnes, owner of Bumble by ColeyB, and Di’Anka Moton, owner of L.A. Beauty Bar. These owners provided valuable insights into the entrepreneurial journey and the challenges of entering industries that have traditionally lacked support and advocacy for Black business owners.
On Wednesday, February 12th, BEE, hosted their first annual Black Business Expo at our headquarters in Atlanta, GA. The Expo held 31 local businesses of various industries with 4 of those businesses being owned by Insight Global’s very own employees. Hundreds of people came to attend the event, and many businesses sold out of products to sell.
“I am proud to have supported the businesses that participated in this event,” said Kimie Clark, Membership Engagement Chair of BEE. “Insight Global provided a valuable platform for the exposure of Black-owned businesses, reinforcing my pride in working for this company. The support we are receiving this Black History Month truly makes me feel recognized and valued!”
The Black Business Expo proved to be a pivotal event, fostering connections and opportunities for Black entrepreneurs. The momentum generated during this event promises to inspire future endeavors and continued advocacy for black entrepreneurs in the business world.
”The sense of community at the Expo was palpable, and I believe that events like this are vital for supporting and uplifting Black-owned businesses,” said Alexandria Johnson, owner of Prissy Potions.
