As companies look for creative ways to find talent and optimize costs, they need partners who can find them great talent from across the globe. Over the last five years, Insight Global has been investing heavily into providing staffing and services outside of North America, resulting in a 2025 active consultant base that spans more than 40 countries.
North American nearshoring service providers have always held a space in business leaders’ workforce strategies. The combination of COVID, remote work, and cost constraints, though, have created a heightened demand for technology talent across Latin America. With a wide range of countries investing in technology education, university systems, and creating more business-friendly environments to spur investment, the remote, onshore hiring manager looking for an engineer nearshore has a lot of options. But what is growing the fastest?
As Insight Global continues to meet the demand of our customers, Brazil has emerged as a hotbed for talent across the tech landscape. Recently, Brazil has become the top country for staffing placements in Latin American (LatAm) in our international portfolio, accounting for 17.2% of total international staffing placements and 42% of our placements in LatAm. This is an increase from 6.2% in 2023. Here are some of the trends.
Why Brazil?
Brazil has grown as a great nearshoring option for a multitude of reasons:
- The country has a large population of high-level, techno-functional consultants across a variety of roles. Some of the common ones include:
- The Brazilian government has invested billions of dollars at the university level to train new talent, especially for Brazil’s growing EdTech sector.
- They have also invested money and offered tax incentives for its native companies and foreign companies to build and improve IT and data infrastructure, which has given the talent space to learn and grow its skills.
- Many Brazilian tech workers are fluent in English and can work U.S. hours. It’s estimated that 5% of Brazil’s 200m+ population is fluent in English, with a higher percentage of technology workers being bilingual.
- Their skilled workers earn competitive yet cost-effective rates with the rest of LatAm, especially as other LatAm countries are seeing their tech workers demand higher rates.
- Large native industries like agriculture, manufacturing, mining, tourism, oil and gas all create environments for modern-day technology organizations to create an ecosystem of thriving talent.
Edgar Escobar, one of Insight Global’s top international recruiters, said, “A lot of the candidates I come across already have previous experience supporting different time zones, experience keeping up with the U.S. work culture, and are always looking to expand on their skills”—all key attributes that make Brazil a great country to nearshore talent.
What Other LATAM Countries are Growing?
Insight Global’s consultant base has grown in almost every nearshore country over the last five years. That said, some are growing quicker than others.
President of Global Growth, Lawrence Dearth, on the sectors and regions:
“We are seeing that our ability to recruit and develop engineering talent across South & Central America is a real differentiator to how we are helping customers achieve their nearshore hiring goals. Countries like Colombia, Chile, and Costa Rica, in addition to Brazil, are all outpacing our average growth rates. This candidate pool has a passion for doing work that matters in the technology industry. That combined with the breadth of our client network allow for our teams to connect strong engineers and other roles to thousands of companies hiring for their skill set.
“When you combine that with Insight Global’s strength in Consultant Engagement and how our recruiters and leaders take care of our consultants, we are creating an ideal career for any technology consultant looking to further their career with a purpose-led organization.”
Outside of Brazil, many of its regional neighbors are great for finding talent. These include:
- Chile
- Colombia
- Costa Rica
- Mexico
- Guatemala
- Peru
