Job Description

Event Management
• Configure and support ServiceNow Event Management, including event rules, alert management rules, and alert correlation.
• Ensure accurate ingestion and processing of events from monitoring tools.
• Assist in tuning thresholds, filtering noise, and improving alert quality.
• Support the full alert lifecycle, including creation, acknowledgment, remediation, and closure.
CMDB & Service Mapping Support
• Apply CMDB fundamentals to correctly associate events and alerts to Configuration Items (CIs).
• Understand CI relationships and dependencies to support meaningful alert correlation.
• Collaborate with CMDB and Service Mapping teams to ensure data quality required for Event Management.
ITOM & Operations Collaboration
• Understand how Event Management fits within IT Operations Management (ITOM).
• Support integration with Incident Management for automated or assisted incident creation.
• Work closely with IT Operations, NOC, and monitoring teams to align Event Management behavior with operational needs.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
• Develop and maintain Event Management documentation, including event rules, alert logic, correlation strategies, and integrations.
• Contribute to and help define a standardized onboarding process for integrating new monitoring tools into ServiceNow Event Management, ensuring consistency, governance, and operational readiness across all sources.
• Assist in documenting monitoring onboarding standards, including required data elements, CI mapping expectations, validation steps, and operational acceptance criteria.
• Help define and document roles and responsibilities related to Event Management (e.g., Administrator, Operator, Monitoring Tool Owner, Platform Owner).
• Support the creation and maintenance of segregation of duties models for Event Management, ensuring clear separation between configuration, approval, and operational execution to support auditability and compliance.
• Partner with IT Operations, platform teams, and security/governance stakeholders to ensure Event Management processes are well‑governed, scalable, and compliant.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by reviewing Event Management effectiveness, identifying gaps, and recommending process or configuration enhancements.
Day to Day:
The ServiceNow Event Management Specialist is responsible for supporting, configuring, and operating the Event Management capability within the ServiceNow platform. This role focuses on ensuring reliable event ingestion, effective alerting and correlation, and strong alignment with CMDB and IT Operations Management (ITOM) processes.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with ServiceNow Event Management fundamentals, understands CMDB concepts, and can administer ServiceNow at a foundational level while working closely with IT Operations and platform teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• Event Management fundamentals
○ Understanding of events, alerts, thresholds, correlation, suppression, and remediation concepts.
• CMDB fundamentals
○ Knowledge of Configuration Items (CIs), relationships, and their role in IT operations.
• ServiceNow administration fundamentals
○ Foundational experience administering the ServiceNow platform.
• Understanding of ITOM
○ Familiarity with IT Operations Management concepts and how Event Management supports operational visibility.
• Experience
2 to 3 years of hands‑on experience working with ServiceNow, ITOM, or Event Management–related capabilities.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Completion of the ServiceNow Event Management Implementer Path, or
• ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Event Management (CIS‑EM).
• Experience working with enterprise monitoring tools (infrastructure, application, or cloud).
Exposure to service‑based operations and CSDM concepts.
