Job Description

Insight Global's client is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of commercial construction projects throughout the Hampton Roads region. This individual will work closely with Project Managers to coordinate subcontractors, track schedules and budgets, manage project documentation, and help drive projects from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate is an early-career construction professional who is looking to grow into a Project Manager role and has strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

Key Responsibilities
Support Project Managers with the planning and execution of commercial construction projects.
Assist with subcontractor coordination, material procurement, scheduling, and project tracking.
Prepare and maintain project documentation, contracts, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and reports.
Monitor project progress and proactively identify potential issues impacting schedule or budget.
Conduct site visits to ensure quality, safety, and project alignment.
Communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
Assist in resolving field and project-related issues throughout the construction lifecycle.
Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and responsiveness.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Construction, or a related field.
1-3 years of construction experience (internships, Project Engineer, Assistant PM, or field/project coordination experience accepted).
Experience supporting commercial construction projects.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Ability to coordinate subcontractors, project schedules, and project documentation.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and project teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Willingness to spend time both in the office and in the field at active construction sites.
Desire to grow into a Project Manager role within a commercial construction organization.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Degree from a recognized construction or engineering program.
Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar construction software.
Internship or work experience with a commercial General Contractor.
Exposure to budgeting, estimating, subcontractor management, or project scheduling.
Understanding of commercial construction processes, contracts, and project delivery.
