Job Description

Insight Global is supporting an AEC client in their search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This individual will serve as a senior or lead engineer, taking ownership of mechanical and HVAC design efforts from early conceptual studies and scope development through detailed design, system selection, and construction documentation.
In this role, you’ll partner closely with clients to understand project objectives, validate technical requirements, and help define scopes of work that align with budget, schedule, and performance goals. You’ll act as a trusted technical advisor, guiding HVAC system strategies and mechanical solutions across a wide range of projects.
You’ll manage mechanical scopes on both standalone and multi‑disciplinary projects, working alongside project managers to ensure work stays aligned with contract fees, schedules, and client expectations. This includes coordinating and communicating mechanical design efforts across disciplines and ensuring seamless integration with architectural, electrical, and other engineering teams.
As a senior leader, you’ll oversee and mentor junior mechanical engineers, designers, and commissioning staff—providing technical guidance, conducting quality control reviews, and ensuring designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and internal QA/QC procedures. You’ll be responsible for preparing and reviewing mechanical deliverables, including programming documents, schematic designs, design development packages, and construction documents.
The role supports projects through bidding, construction, and close‑out phases. You’ll assist with bid reviews and addenda, respond to RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, participate in site visits, and represent the firm during construction as needed. You’ll also support commissioning efforts by preparing proposals, plans, and reports; conducting project reviews; witnessing pre-functional checks and functional performance testing; and developing O&M and OMSI documentation to ensure systems perform as intended well beyond project completion.
