Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Software Engineer I to support a federal client in Suffolk, VA. This team builds and integrates non‑kinetic effects into a simulation environment—things like cyber, EMS, information operations, and other effects that aren’t missiles or physical weapons. Their core focus is translating those effects into realistic, interoperable behaviors that interact with people, vehicles, aircraft, and systems across large‑scale joint simulations. They ensure everything works together in real time across distributed environments using common modeling and simulation standards.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software components supporting the JNKE-PSF Effects Server and associated simulation infrastructure.
• Implement algorithms and data processing pipelines that translate complex Non-Kinetic Effects (NKE) and Mission Essential Task List (MSEL) injects into generalized, interoperable simulation outcomes.
• Develop and integrate modules compliant with Joint, Live, Virtual, and Constructive (JLVC) Federation Object Models (FOMs).
• Engineer and maintain data models to support Enhanced NKE simulation requirements.
• Ensure interoperability across distributed simulation environments using standards such as HLA, DIS, and SISO data models.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts across Space, EMS, and Cyber domains to capture, normalize, and structure data for simulation use.
• Support the integration of the SISO Cyber Data Exchange Model into the broader simulation framework.
• Conduct verification and validation (V&V) of data models, interfaces, and simulation outputs to ensure accuracy and fidelity.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability for real-time or near-real-time simulation environments.
• Participate in system architecture design, technical reviews, and documentation of software and data models.
• Provide technical support during integration events, testing exercises, and operational demonstrations.
