Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a qualified Lead RF Engineer supporting a large federal program in Norfolk, VA. This individual will be responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and integration of advanced RF systems across maritime platforms, including foreign naval vessels and submarines.
This candidate is responsible for focusing on RF system architecture, signal chain analysis, and performance validation. The ideal candidate has experience characterizing RF components and sensors, modeling system behavior, and ensuring end-to-end signal integrity within SIGINT and Software Defined Radio (SDR) environments.
• Design and analyze RF systems and signal chains for integration onto maritime platforms
• Perform RF modeling and analysis using tools such as MATLAB, ADS, or similar
• Conduct RF testing and validation, including S-parameter testing (S11/S21), signal integrity, and frequency response
• Support component and sensor characterization (amplifiers, filters, antennas, RF distribution units)
• Execute cascade (link budget) analysis to evaluate end-to-end system performance
• Integrate and validate SDR and SIGINT systems, supporting signal processing and demodulation
• Troubleshoot RF systems and perform root cause analysis of performance issues
• Support system integration, verification, and limited field deployment activities
• Develop test procedures, documentation, and technical recommendations
Compensation: $100k - $130k
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• Active DoD Secret Clearance
• 6+ years of experience in RF engineering, system design, or RF system integration
• Strong understanding of RF fundamentals (signal propagation, impedance matching, frequency analysis, gain/loss)
• Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscopes, power meters)
• Experience performing and interpreting S-parameter testing (S11, S21) and RF performance analysis
• Experience with RF modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB, ADS, HFSS, SystemVue, or similar)
• Experience with SDR, SIGINT systems, or RF signal processing
• Ability to troubleshoot RF systems and analyze performance at component and system levels
• Experience working in Linux environments and interpreting technical schematics/system diagrams
