Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a qualified Secret Computer Engineer in support of one of our large federal clients in Norfolk, VA. This candidate will support engineering development and operational systems while ensuring the successful integration, deployment, and sustainment of software and hardware solutions in Linux-based environments. Their day-to-day responsibilities will include supporting field operations, troubleshooting engineering systems, managing software implementation efforts, maintaining Linux environments, conducting system performance analyses, and developing technical documentation. A qualified candidate will have strong experience in Linux administration, software lifecycle support, systems engineering, requirements definition, testing and evaluation, technical problem-solving, and engineering support within complex operational environments.


• Support field operations, troubleshooting efforts, and maintenance of electronic installations and engineering development systems
• Evaluate operational systems and recommend design modifications to improve performance and resolve system issues
• Perform engineering and systems integration tasks utilizing engineering design tools and software
• Administer and support Linux environments, including troubleshooting, permissions management, system configuration, and security maintenance
• Coordinate software requirements, development efforts, testing, validation, and deployment activities
• Support implementation of software into the FOROPS Engineering Development Model through final validation
• Ensure deployed software maintains performance consistency throughout its lifecycle
• Conduct technical research and develop hardware/software replacement strategies to address technology obsolescence
• Develop and maintain System Administration Manuals and technical documentation
• Provide technical guidance to junior personnel and support team development initiatives


Compensation: $100k - $120k
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• Active DoD Secret Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
• 6+ years of experience in Computer Engineering or related field
• Experience working within Linux-based environments
• Linux system administration experience, including:
o System configuration and troubleshooting
o User permissions management
o Security administration
o Server health monitoring
• Prior experience working with Electronic Warfare (EW), radar, Radio Frequency (RF) and communication systems within a Linux based environment.
• Experience supporting the software development lifecycle, including:
o Requirements gathering
o Development coordination
o Testing and validation
o Software implementation and deployment
