Job Description
-The MBSE Solutions Architect will lead the design and implementation of end-to-end solutions supporting the Digital Engineering Environment (DEE) for a large scale federal program. This role is responsible for ensuring that components are accurately modeled, integrated, and traceable within a modern digital engineering ecosystem. This individual bridges traditional systems engineering processes with advanced digital twin and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) capabilities. The architect will maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, ensure compliance with federal Enterprise Architecture, and enable seamless system integration through traceability, interface design, and network modeling.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Engineering & MBSE Leadership:
-Design and architect end-to-end solutions for the Digital Engineering Environment (DEE).
-Implement and govern Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices using SysML and UAF.
-Align digital engineering efforts with industry-standard Digital Engineering (DE) frameworks.
-Translate engineering processes into scalable digital twin-enabled architectures.
Enterprise Architecture & Modeling:
-Develop and maintain DoDAF/UAF architecture views.
-Map mission capabilities to system components and identify key integration touchpoints.
-Produce stakeholder-specific architecture views to support decision-making and program transparency.
-Utilize enterprise modeling tools (e.g., Sparx EA or similar) to maintain architecture artifacts.
Requirements Engineering & Traceability:
-Lead requirements decomposition, allocation, and flow-down across system layers.
-Create and maintain traceability matrices (RTMs) ensuring linkage from requirements to design, implementation, and validation.
-Apply model-based requirements techniques using SysML.
-Ensure compliance with Systems Engineering Manual (SEM) and federal requirements standards.
-Manage requirements within tools such as DOORS and/or Jama.
Interface & Integration Design:
-Define and document Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
-Conduct interface requirements analysis to ensure seamless interoperability.
-Establish and promote API-first integration strategies for system connectivity.
-Evaluate and define integration patterns across DEE tools and operational systems.
Network Topology & Digital Twin Enablement:
-Own and maintain the network topology model, including:
-Circuits
-Nodes
-Bandwidth
-Routing paths
-Ensure the network architecture supports the operational digital twin connectivity model.
-Identify and resolve infrastructure gaps impacting system interoperability and performance.
Governance & Strategy:
-Support architecture governance processes, ensuring compliance with enterprise and program standards.
-Develop and maintain technology roadmaps aligned with program objectives.
-Conduct impact analysis to assess system and requirement changes.
-Enable capability-based planning across program increments and modernization efforts.
