o Situational Awareness & Information Synthesis - Monitoring complex command and control (C2) systems, tracking real-time operational feeds,
o Crisis Management & Decisiveness - Executing emergency checklists, coordinating rapid response protocols, multitasking during active incidents, and making firm, logical decisions during time-sensitive crises,
o Communication, Briefing, & Incident Reporting - Drafting clear situation and incident reports (SITREPs), delivering concise verbal intelligence briefings to senior leaders, and coordinating securely across external and internal agencies
Hours/Schedule: Typical workday consists of three 12-hour shifts (either 6AM-6PM or 6PM-6AM), and a 4-hour shift, each week. OR or three 12-hour shifts and an 8 hour shift every other week. Since we are limited staff, this is not always the same, but we try to keep it as consistent as the mission will allow.
How a Watch Officer will Make an Impact:
- Effective interactions with the team to achieve a mission are driven by clear communication, synchronized collaboration, and unified problem-solving.
- The Watch Officer supports services by providing continuous watch, briefing, and support for the DTRA Operations Center and Incident Management System
- The Watch Officer acts as the primary POC for managing operational data of the operation center. They use technical systems to monitor data feeds, apply analytical skills to assess threats or hazards in real time, and deploy communication tools to ensure leadership has an accurate, up-to-date operational picture
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- The Watch Officer must maintain a constant state of readiness and ensure the continuous tracking of all operational data in support of the operations center.
- The Watch Officer must anticipate contingencies: Foreseeing potential emergencies, reducing response times, and initiating swift, coordinated actions.
- The Watch Officer should keep up with changing technologies, standard operating procedures, and the tactical/strategic environment.
