Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join the team in McLean immediately. Responsibilities include:
• Works w/ Production/Manufacturing Engineer and Manufacturer.
• Arrives on the floor and checks where the build is in the sequence — what stage are we in, what's getting welded or assembled today
• Walks the floor and does in-process inspection — are the right materials staged, are the weld joints prepped correctly, does the fit-up look right before the welder strikes an arc
• Reviews weld quality as work progresses — checking against the drawing callouts and AWS D1.1 requirements
• If something is off, stops the work, documents the non-conformance report (NCR), coordinates with the production team on the fix
• Tracks open NCRs and makes sure corrective actions are actually getting closed, not just written down and forgotten
• At end of day, updates the inspection log and flags anything the engineering manager needs to know before the next morning
• Reviews updated drawings or BOM revisions and checks for anything that would affect current builds in progress
• Follows up on open NCRs and CAPA items with the factory quality contacts (Seetaram at Kwik, GTI counterpart)
• Builds out or updates the quality record package for an upcoming FAT or customer delivery
• Coordinates with PMs on where a program stands and whether any quality holds could affect the delivery date
• Supports supplier qualification activity — reviewing documentation from a new vendor, checking material certs, audit prep
Customer milestone weeks (FAT, delivery):
• Pulls together the full quality package — inspection reports, material certifications, test results, NCR closure records
• Walks the customer's acceptance team through the evidence
• Documents any punch list items and owns getting them closed before final sign-off
