Systems Engineer - Hybrid SATCOM

An employer is seeking a Systems Engineer with a focus on Hybrid Satellite Communication Systems to support the full lifecycle development of complex SATCOM and networked communication solutions, from conceptual design through product phase-out. In this role, you will work in a fast‑paced, deliverable‑driven environment with a strong emphasis on system integration, verification, and test (I&T) across hybrid satellite, RF, and terrestrial communication architectures. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, vendors, and end customers to manage requirements, develop technical documentation, and resolve technical challenges associated with multi-domain communication systems.

The position includes hands-on involvement in integrating satellite communication subsystems, developing and executing test procedures, validating end-to-end data flow across hybrid networks, and troubleshooting system-level performance issues in lab and field environments. You will support system verification, interoperability testing, and field integration events, ensuring performance and reliability across space, ground, and network segments. Additional responsibilities include participation in design reviews, coordination with subcontractors, and supporting on-site integration and test activities, with travel expected.

This role requires an active DoD security clearance and is ideal for a systems engineer with experience in SATCOM, hybrid communication architectures, and integration/test within complex environments, along with a strong understanding of systems engineering fundamentals, requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama), and the ability to deliver secure, high-performance communication solutions.

This role is offering $85-100/hr.

Bachelor's of Science in a relevant field of Engineering
6+ years of relevant work experience
Active Secret Clearance
Experience working in an MBSE and Agile work environment
Hands on experience working with Commercial or Military satellite communication programs

Experience working with Free Space Optics, or Open Mission Systems Architecture.
