This person will be conducting triage and failure analysis on PC devices that come in from the field. This analysis includes inspecting field devices at the system, sub-system, and component level and determining what is wrong with the unit (is it a SW issue, board level issue, mechanical issue, etc.), the root cause of the failure, and providing the findings to the engineering staff for further action. This also includes strategizing with client management on future direction and trends in technology and making recommendations. The failures will be related to, but not limited to: motherboard and electrical components, system software, drivers, chassis integrity, cabling, screen and bezel damage/wear, keyboard, touchpad, ports, etc.
This position is working in a lab environment and the typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm CST.
Compensation Range: $35-40/hr

5+ years of experience performing failure/root-cause analysis on PC devices down to the board-level
PC teardown ability without compromising failure evidence
Ability to read and interpret schematics and board layouts
Experience with electrical debugging techniques/methodologies
Experience using tools such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, logic analyzers, X-Ray/CT, cross-sectioning components, thermal imaging etc.
Ability to report detailed findings (written & verbal communication)
Previous experience working for a contract PC repair company
Previous HP experience or experience working on HP branded devices
