Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Chemical Engineer with strong laboratory experience in material and chemical analysis to work onsite at our client's facility in Bangalore, India. The candidate will be responsible for conducting analytical tests, interpreting results, and supporting investigation and failure analysis activities using advanced characterization techniques. Responsibilities include:
- Perform and interpret FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) analysis for material identification and contamination analysis.
- Operate SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) for surface morphology and failure investigations (basic EDX knowledge is an advantage).
- Conduct Flowers of Sulphur Test for corrosion and sulphur contamination detection.
- Support failure analysis and root cause investigations related to materials, contamination, corrosion, or chemical degradation.
- Prepare test reports, observations, and conclusions with clear technical justifications.
- Ensure compliance with lab safety, chemical handling, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain lab equipment, test setups, and calibration records.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (FA, Quality, Manufacturing, Reliability) to support investigations.
- Document test methods, results, and corrective action inputs as required.

Required Skills & Experience
Strong working knowledge of FTIR, SEM, and Flowers of Sulphur Test.
Understanding of chemical reactions, corrosion mechanisms, and material degradation.
Experience in laboratory testing, sample preparation, and data analysis.
Ability to correlate lab findings with field or product failures.
Good technical documentation and report-writing skills.
Familiarity with quality systems and lab best practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently in a lab environment
Good communication and collaboration skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience in Failure Analysis, Materials Lab, or Reliability Lab.
Exposure to electronics, plastics, polymers, coatings, or metals is a plus.
Knowledge of additional techniques such as EDX is an advantage.
Experience working in product-based or manufacturing environments.
