Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Sr. Manager of Delivery / Transportation Manager for a top distribution client in the food & beverage industry. This candidate will lead all delivery and fleet operations across Texas, overseeing a large team, multiple cross-dock locations, and a high-volume route network. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective transportation operations while driving continuous improvement across routing, fleet performance, and customer service. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep expertise in DOT compliance, DSD environments, and large-scale logistics, who thrives in fast-paced, multi-site operations and is passionate about building high-performing teams.
Day-to-Day:
Oversee statewide delivery operations across Texas, including 7 cross-dock locations
Manage 150+ employees and 115 daily delivery routes
Lead and mentor transportation managers and driver teams
Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations including:
Hours of Service (HOS)
Pre/post-trip inspections
DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports)
Identifying and resolving vehicle safety defects
Manage company-owned fleet including maintenance and repair coordination with external vendors
Own budgeting, cost management, and vendor negotiations for fleet operations
Track and improve KPIs (safety, cost, service levels, efficiency)
Drive customer service excellence through effective delivery operations
Identify routing improvements and optimization opportunities
Partner with Operations leadership and corporate teams to drive improvements
Lead productivity initiatives to enhance operational and financial performance
Foster a strong team culture and engagement across transportation teams

Required Skills & Experience
10+ years of Transportation / Logistics / Fleet Management experience
Experience managing large teams (80+ drivers; ideally 100+ employees)
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA compliance, and fleet safety standards
Experience overseeing CDL A & B driver operations
Hands-on experience with ELD / fleet monitoring systems (Samsara or similar)
Experience in Direct Store Delivery (DSD) environments
Proven experience managing multi-site or cross-dock operations
Strong understanding of driver compliance (hours of service, DVIRs, inspections)
Experience owning or contributing to Transportation P&L, budgeting, and cost control
Ability to track and improve safety scores, KPIs, and operational metrics
Experience managing fleet maintenance programs and vendor relationships
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience in food & beverage, grocery, or high-volume distribution (Sysco, US Foods, UNFI, Performance Food Group, SpartanNash, Core-Mark, etc.)
Experience negotiating repair/maintenance contracts and vendor pricing
Strong experience with routing optimization and delivery efficiency
Experience leading regional transportation leaders or multi-layer org structures
Advanced Excel/reporting skills for KPI dashboards
