Job Description

Position Overview
The Operations Manager is a field-based delivery leader responsible for the day-to-day operational execution of data center infrastructure services within an assigned metro on behalf of IG Consulting. The Operations Manager directly oversees site leads, field supervisors, and crew activity across all active programs, ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with client-defined Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
This role is the critical link between Sr. PM-level program governance and on-site crew execution. The Operations Manager does not perform technical work directly but is the senior IG Consulting presence at the metro level, responsible for operational health, crew performance, compliance posture, and daily coordination with client facilities and operations teams.
• Owns day-to-day operational execution across all active programs within an assigned metro
• Serves as the primary on-site IG Consulting point of contact for data center operations and facilities teams
• Directly oversees site leads, field supervisors, and crew members across assigned campuses
• Ensures all work activity is executed in compliance with current, approved MOPs and SOPs
• Reports to the Senior Program Manager and maintains continuous alignment on program status, risks, and crew performance
Core Responsibilities
1. Metro Operations Ownership
• Own the operational tempo of all active programs within the assigned metro, ensuring crews are on-site, on task, and executing to schedule daily
• Maintain a real-time view of program health across all active workstreams: deployment progress, crew capacity, open issues, and upcoming milestones
• Identify and resolve day-of operational blockers, including access issues, materials gaps, crew conflicts, or scope ambiguities, without waiting for escalation
• Coordinate across multiple simultaneous programs and work activities within the metro, managing sequencing and resource allocation at the site level
• Provide daily and weekly operational status updates to the Sr. PM, including crew performance, schedule adherence, and any open risks or issues
2. Crew Leadership & Performance Management
• Directly lead and manage site leads and field supervisors across assigned campuses, holding them accountable for crew readiness, execution quality, and safety compliance
• Conduct regular performance check-ins with site leads and supervisors, providing coaching, feedback, and direction on both individual and crew-level performance
• Identify performance gaps, attendance issues, or quality concerns within crews and address them directly or escalate to the Sr. PM as appropriate
• Ensure crews are properly briefed before each work activity: current MOPs in hand, scope understood, safety requirements reviewed
• Support onboarding of new crew members and site leads to assigned programs, including site-specific orientation, access provisioning, and documentation review
• Partner with the Sr. PM and IG Consulting workforce team to flag capacity needs, surge requirements, and crew performance issues in advance
3. MOP/SOP Compliance & On-Site Quality Control
• Serve as the on-site compliance owner for all active programs within the metro; no crew executes without a current, approved MOP in hand
• Conduct regular on-site walkthroughs and spot checks to verify crews are executing in accordance with approved procedures and specifications
• Identify and immediately stop any work activity that deviates from approved MOPs or SOPs; document the deviation and notify the Sr. PM
• Monitor quality standards across all service areas: rack installations, network buildouts, cabling work, break/fix execution, and rack lifecycle activities
• Ensure defects, test failures, and documentation discrepancies identified during execution or acceptance testing are tracked and resolved before program closeout
• Maintain a daily compliance log and escalate recurring deviation patterns to the Sr. PM for corrective action
4. Client On-Site Relationship Management
• Serve as the senior IG Consulting presence for day-to-day coordination with data center operations, facilities, and project management teams at the metro level
• Attend daily and weekly site coordination meetings, representing IG Consulting on crew activity, schedule status, and open action items
• Maintain strong working relationships with facility managers, operations leads, and EHS contacts within the assigned metro
• Surface and communicate operational risks, schedule impacts, or crew issues to client stakeholders promptly and with recommended mitigations
• Ensure all IG Consulting crew activity is coordinated and cleared through client site access and work authorization processes
5. Safety & EHS Oversight
• Own the safety culture on-site within the assigned metro; EHS compliance is non-negotiable and the Operations Manager is the first line of enforcement
• Ensure all crew members maintain current site access credentials, safety certifications, and badging requirements per data center protocols
• Conduct or coordinate pre-work safety briefings for all planned activities, with particular attention to high-risk work such as energized rack installations and overhead cable management
• Immediately escalate any safety incident, near-miss, or EHS violation to the Sr. PM and client EHS contacts, following IG Consulting incident reporting procedures
• Partner with IG Consulting EHS leadership to ensure all active programs are operating within required safety standards at all times
6. Operational Reporting & Documentation
• Produce daily and weekly operational reports for the Sr. PM covering program progress, crew status, open risks, and compliance posture across the metro
• Maintain accurate records of crew attendance, work activity, MOP usage, and site incidents for all active programs
• Support the Sr. PM in preparing program status materials for governance reviews, QBRs, and delivery retrospectives
• Ensure all team-produced documentation, including as-built records, test results, and completion sign-offs, is accurate, complete, and submitted to the Sr. PM for client review on schedule
• Track and close open action items arising from client site meetings, program reviews, and on-site walkthroughs
