Job Description

An Insight Global client is seeking a Senior Scientist to join their Sensor Physics team supporting the research, development, and testing of next-generation downhole sensing technologies. This individual will serve as a versatile technical contributor across multiple research initiatives, helping design and execute laboratory experiments, analyze experimental data, and support the development, calibration, and validation of new sensor technologies used to measure formation and fluid properties. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on laboratory experience, enjoys solving complex scientific problems, and can seamlessly move between experimentation, data analysis, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration. This person will support multiple concurrent projects, prepare technical reports and presentations, work closely with scientists and engineers, and contribute to innovation efforts focused on advancing sensor performance and new technology development within the organization. Candidates with experience in analytical chemistry, laboratory instrumentation, experimental design (DOE), and scientific programming will be particularly successful in this role.

Required Skills & Experience

• Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Petroleum Engineering, or related scientific discipline
• Hands-on laboratory research experience
• Experience designing and executing experiments (DOE – Design of Experiments)
• Background analyzing and interpreting experimental results
• Strong understanding of laboratory instrumentation and measurement techniques
• Experience documenting research findings through technical reports and presentations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Analytical Chemistry experience
• Sensor development or calibration experience
• Oil & Gas industry experience
• Formation evaluation or reservoir engineering exposure
• Python, MATLAB, R, or other scientific programming experience
• Data science and statistical analysis experience
• PhD with research commercialization or applied R&D experience
• Experience supporting interdisciplinary teams across laboratory and field environments
