Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Lead Accounting Analyst to join a team of 6 for a large utility company in Houston, Texas. This role provides professional accounting expertise to ensure accurate recording, analysis, and reporting of company transactions in compliance with GAAP, as well as state and federal regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing general ledger account reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, and developing financial and statistical reports for internal and external parties. The Lead Accounting Analyst will interpret and monitor compliance, ensure proper record retention, and support SOX compliance, including controlled documentation. Additionally, this role involves researching and analyzing emerging accounting and regulatory issues, participating in cross-functional projects related to process improvements and system implementations, and staying informed on industry trends to apply best practices. A strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately are key to success in this role. Other duties may be assigned by management as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

Acquired a CPA
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
7+ years of relevant experience or 5+ if they can demonstrate the knowledge of the role well and have similar experience as the job description
Ability to review the work of others, provide them with actionable feedback, and ensure high quality outcomes
Ability to communicate with different groups such as auditors, billing, and FP&A
Able to read and recognize the ASC
Proficient in Excel

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with regulatory groups
Knowledgeable on ASC 980
Drive to learn and self-starter
Acquired a CPA in Texas
Experience working in Utility industry or company where prices are controlled by a governed body
