Job Description

We are seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to support the coordination and execution of large-scale data center programs. This individual will serve as the primary coordination lead for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and commissioning activities, ensuring critical infrastructure systems are delivered in alignment with program schedules, operational objectives, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have 7-15 years of experience supporting highly technical projects such as data centers, mission-critical facilities, semiconductor facilities, advanced manufacturing environments, utility infrastructure programs, healthcare facilities, or other complex engineering-driven initiatives. The MEP Superintendent will partner closely with project management, project teams, vendors, consultants, commissioning specialists, and client stakeholders throughout execution and turnover.

Key Responsibilities
MEP Program Leadership
Lead day-to-day coordination of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and commissioning activities in an office-based capacity.
Coordinate MEP vendors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure scope delivery aligns with program requirements, schedules, and quality expectations.
Foster collaboration between project teams, design consultants, equipment providers, commissioning specialists, and client stakeholders.
Serve as the primary point of coordination for resolving complex MEP system integration challenges.
Facilitate communication across multiple project workstreams and support alignment of technical deliverables.
Provide guidance and support to project engineers, coordinators, and program support personnel.
Scheduling & Program Execution
Coordinate sequencing strategies to support key program milestones and turnover requirements.
Partner with project controls, scheduling teams, and project management to develop and maintain program schedules.
Utilize planning tools and reporting processes to track progress and support schedule adherence.
Monitor schedule impacts, identify risks, and support development of mitigation and recovery plans.
Coordinate equipment delivery planning, vendor activities, startup sequencing, and commissioning schedules.
Support critical path analysis through forecasting, reporting, and coordination activities.
MEP Coordination & Systems Integration
Lead MEP coordination meetings and facilitate issue resolution across disciplines and stakeholders.
Review drawings, specifications, and BIM/VDC models for coordination considerations, system conflicts, and integration risks.
Ensure MEP systems are coordinated with architectural, structural, controls, communications, security, and technology infrastructure systems.
Support value engineering initiatives and design coordination reviews.
Coordinate equipment layouts, redundancy requirements, maintenance accessibility considerations, and system interoperability needs.
Facilitate interdisciplinary planning efforts to minimize conflicts and improve project execution efficiency.
Data Center Systems Coordination

Support coordination and delivery planning for critical systems commonly found within hyperscale, enterprise, and colocation data center environments, including:

HVAC and environmental control systems
Chilled water systems
Cooling towers and heat rejection systems
CRAH and CRAC systems
Hydronic distribution systems
Building automation systems (BAS)
Electrical distribution infrastructure
Generator and backup power systems
UPS systems
Fire alarm and fire protection systems
EPMS and BMS platforms
Structured cabling and technology support infrastructure
Integrated monitoring and controls systems

Ensure systems align with design specifications, quality standards, commissioning requirements, and operational objectives through coordination and documentation review.

Quality & Compliance
Participate in quality reviews and ensure scope aligns with program specifications and industry standards.
Verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, manufacturer requirements, and client-specific requirements through coordination and documentation reviews.
Coordinate inspections, deficiency resolution activities, and system acceptance processes with stakeholders.
Support documentation management and turnover readiness requirements.
Assist with risk identification and mitigation planning related to critical infrastructure systems.
Commissioning & Turnover
Support coordination of startup, testing, balancing (TAB), commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and turnover activities.
Coordinate issue resolution during commissioning and support system performance validation.
Track closeout items and support turnover readiness efforts to ensure successful program completion.
Coordinate documentation reviews including commissioning reports, O&M manuals, system acceptance documentation, and turnover packages.
Ensure systems achieve operational readiness requirements prior to final handoff.

Required Skills & Experience

7-15 years of commercial project, engineering, mission-critical, infrastructure, or program management experience.
Experience supporting MEP scopes on complex programs.
Experience supporting projects such as:
Data Centers
Mission-Critical Facilities
Semiconductor Facilities
Advanced Manufacturing Facilities
Technology Infrastructure Programs
Healthcare Facilities
Utility Infrastructure Programs
Strong experience coordinating vendors, consultants, and multiple workstreams.
Proven ability to coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and commissioning activities.
Working knowledge of BIM/VDC coordination processes and clash detection workflows.
Experience reviewing and managing RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change documentation, and turnover packages.
Strong understanding of project scheduling, sequencing, and critical path activities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
Working knowledge of Primavera P6, Oracle Primavera Cloud, Microsoft Project, or similar scheduling platforms.
Experience supporting programs valued at $100M+.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Data center, mission-critical, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing program experience.
Experience supporting programs valued at $250M+.
Experience supporting hyperscale data center clients.
Familiarity with Tier III and Tier IV data center environments.
Knowledge of integrated systems testing (IST), levelized commissioning, and mission-critical turnover processes.
Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, Revizto, Navisworks, or similar coordination platforms.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline.
