Job Description

Day-To-Day:
Insight Global is hiring for an L4 Field Technician to travel between San Antonio, TX and Austin, TX. The Field Technician supports Eagle Eye Power Solutions’ growing Texas service operations by installing, commissioning, and maintaining industrial battery monitoring and backup power systems for customers primarily across the utilities sector, with expanding work in data centers and other high‑power environments. This role is responsible for installing battery systems, monitoring battery health and performance, and verifying system configuration to ensure reliable backup power when needed. The technician works standard hours, Mon-Fri, with on-call and weekends are rare. The position is travel‑intensive (advertised as 100% travel) and includes company‑provided equipment, a company vehicle or mileage reimbursement, per diem, and a company‑paid cellphone. Prior to deployment, the technician will complete 3–4 weeks of hands‑on training at Eagle Eye Power Solutions’ headquarters in Mequon, Wisconsin.

Responsibilities include:
• Installation and commissioning of battery monitoring systems and DC chargers.
• VLA (Flooded), VRLA and NiCad battery additions, removals, and replacements.
• Ability to operate digital multimeters, amp clamps, specific gravity meters, and specialized battery testing equipment along with associated software.
• Prepare service reports and assist with creating Method of Procedure (MOP) documents in collaboration with the project manager/application engineer.
• Ability to negotiate and resolve scope of work variances and/or unexpected issues in consultation with site officials (customers, contractors or inspectors).
• Perform routine safety and quality inspections daily or weekly and provide feedback to service managers regarding project status or detected issues.
• Basic knowledge and proficiency in AC/DC electrical theory, electrical safety and best practices regarding safe installation and operation of electrical equipment.
• Must be self-organized and proactive regarding planning and preparation to perform work safely and efficiently each day at multiple work sites.
• Adhere to all relevant safety compliance standards, safety training (as assigned by the company), and maintain knowledge of HAZMAT and DOT requirements.
• Ability to act as a lead technician/supervisor as necessary to lead and educate junior technicians, and act as a direct liaison from EES to the customer.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Haves:
• 3-5 years of experience as a field service technician
• Battery installation experience (working with industrial batteries in utilities or telecom world) OR experience in Solar, Wind Turbine, etc
• Strong understanding of DC Power Systems
• Experience with safety sensitivity
• Ability to work at various heights
• Ability to lift 50-60 pounds repetitively is a plus
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must pass a background check
• Must be able to pass random drug tests
• Must be comfortable with daily commuting/traveling between Austin, TX and San Antonio, TX

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Prior experience with Battery installations
• OHSA Certifications
• Electrical or Mechanical background
