Job Description
Insight Global is looking to hire an Engineering Director - Product Development in Austin, TX. This person will lead a team of engineers across multiple product development efforts, managing about 3-4 active projects at a time. They will directly oversee a group of mechanical and software engineers (5 mechanical, 3 software) within a 19-person engineering team. Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding work from early concept through testing and production readiness, running technical reviews, and ensuring engineering work is on track and meeting standards. This role will also be customer-facing, partnering with both clients and internal teams to align on progress, risks, and deliverables. Additionally, they will support team mentorship, staffing planning, and overall engineering strategy. The compensation range for this role is $140,000–$155,000.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
- 10+ years of engineering experience across design, development, integration, and testing of complex systems
- 5+ years leading engineering teams
- Experience delivering products from concept through production and deployment
- Experience with systems engineering processes, technical risk management, and product development lifecycle
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
- Experience in defense, aerospace, instrumentation, or autonomous systems
- Experience with emerging technologies (AI, machine learning, MBSE, digital engineering)
- Experience supporting manufacturing readiness and productization
