Job Description

The Building Systems Specialist helps ensure the reliability and safety of critical facility systems, including cooling, electrical, and life‑safety equipment. In this role, you’ll monitor system performance, respond to alarms, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine inspections to keep equipment running at peak performance. You’ll document maintenance activity, support upgrades, and work closely with engineering, operations, and vendors on projects that improve system reliability. You’ll take the lead during technical issues by diagnosing problems and coordinating the response. You’ll also contribute to process improvements, help integrate new technology, and share your expertise with teammates to strengthen overall operations.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building Automation, or related field (or Associate’s with equivalent specialized experience).
• Advanced BMS experience in mission‑critical environments such as data centers or hospitals.
• Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including electrical distribution, mechanical systems, and cooling technologies.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and drive process improvements.
• Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills for diagnosing complex system issues and performing predictive modeling.
Excellent technical communication skills with the ability to guide teams, vendors, and cross‑functional partners.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Advanced technical leadership experience in data centers or other mission‑critical facilities
• Expertise in energy management, sustainability programs, or advanced efficiency optimization
Experience implementing predictive maintenance strategies or IoT‑based system integrations
• Expert proficiency with multiple BMS platforms, SCADA systems, analytics tools, and key protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LON).
Professional or manufacturer‑specific certifications (CEM, CBCP, CDCP, PE, Schneider, Johnson Controls, Siemens).
