Job Description

Seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Technician to lead and execute complex electrical testing, maintenance, and commissioning activities across customer sites. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with field leadership, project coordination, and client interaction, serving as both a technical authority and a mentor to junior staff.

Job Description:
Field Operations & Technical Execution
• Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, commission, and collect performance data on electrical systems
• Maintain, test, repair, rebuild, and replace low-, medium-, and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
• Test, inspect, and troubleshoot low-, medium-, and high-voltage cable installations
• Maintain, test, and repair transformers and associated electrical equipment
• Test and calibrate solid-state and electromechanical protective relays, including relay calibration and power metering
• Conduct low- and medium-voltage motor control center (MCC) and contactor testing
• Start up, troubleshoot, and repair generator controls and transfer schemes
• Troubleshoot and service automatic transfer switches (ATS)
• Test and commission protection and control systems for high-voltage substations
• Perform insulating fluid sampling and analyze test results
Leadership & Project Coordination
• Supervise Trainees, Assistants, and Technicians in the execution of electrical testing activities
• Assign project tasks based on technician skill level and ensure consistent execution across similar testing scopes
• Observe and verify testing procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Track project scope completion and communicate progress, risks, and changes with leadership and customer management
Safety, Compliance & Documentation
• Complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), including arc flash and shock hazard assessments
• Maintain strict compliance with all applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards
• Document all test results and prepare detailed field service and project reports
• Review and submit timecards, expense reports, and project documentation
• Participate in a rotating emergency on-call schedule
Client & Business Support
• Act as a technical subject matter expert supporting the sales process with equipment assessments, recommendations, and solutions
• Provide professional, customer-facing communication and technical guidance during field engagements

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ YOE in electrical testing and power system services
• Clean Background, drug test, and driving record

Should be able to perform the following testing unsupervised and be able to lead teams and organize projects while working on them.
• Low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical testing, including circuit breakers, switchgear/switchboards, MCCs, transformers (CTs/PTs), cables, grounding systems, motors, and protective devices.
• Proficient with industry-standard test equipment for primary/secondary injection, hipot/VLF, insulation resistance, DLRO, power factor, turns ratio, winding resistance (Megger, AEMC, Doble, Omicron, Vanguard, Raytech, FLIR, Fluke, HVA).

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• NETA III or IV, NICET equivalent certification
• Familiar with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards
