Job Description
A client in the Nashville, TN area is seeking a People Transformation & Optimization Consultant. They will partner with HR/People Operations leadership to assess, redesign, and optimize key People processes with a primary focus on leave administration. This individual will drive the development of a sustainable operating model that enhances employee self-service, strengthens vendor utilization, improves process ownership, and increases operational efficiency. The consultant will also support broader People Operations initiatives by documenting workflows, creating governance structures, and developing scalable processes that reduce reliance on manual support and institutional knowledge.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Assess and document current-state People Operations processes, workflows, ownership structures, and system touchpoints
• Analyze leave administration processes to identify inefficiencies, manual dependencies, and opportunities to increase vendor ownership
• Design future-state operating models with clear roles, responsibilities, governance standards, and escalation procedures
• Develop employee-facing resources, self-service documentation, SOPs, process maps, templates, and training materials
• Partner with HR, Benefits, Business Partners, Payroll, and external vendors to improve leave management capabilities and process adoption
• Support the enhancement and implementation of system-enabled solutions, including self-service and payroll integration improvements
• Lead change management activities to drive adoption of new processes and reduce reliance on People Operations for routine inquiries
• Create implementation roadmaps, transition plans, and knowledge transfer documentation
• Optimize additional People Operations programs such as relocation, tuition assistance, and severance/separation processes
• Establish scalable processes that improve operational continuity, compliance, ownership, and long-term sustainability

• Increased capacity for the People Operations team to focus on strategic initiatives and transformation priorities rather than transactional support activities

Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of experience in HR Operations, People Operations, HR Transformation, Process Improvement, or Organizational Effectiveness
• Experience redesigning operating models, workflows, and business processes
• Strong process documentation skills, including SOPs, process maps, work instructions, and knowledge transfer materials
• Experience managing or optimizing leave administration programs (FMLA, LOA, disability, accommodations, etc.)
• Experience working with third-party HR vendors and outsourced service providers
• Change management and organizational adoption experience
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional communication skills
• Ability to identify operational gaps, streamline processes, and improve scalability
• Experience creating governance, accountability, escalation, and service delivery frameworks
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms (Workday preferred)
• Local to Nashville, TN and open to 4 days onsite
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience supporting leave administration vendors such as Unum
• Workday experience, particularly employee self-service functionality
• Experience with HR shared services or HR operating model transformations
• Background in process optimization methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement)
