Job Description
A healthcare services company is seeking a Windows Server System Administrator to join their team. This role is responsible for hands-on vulnerability remediation, patch management, and security hardening across Windows Server environments. The individual reviews Qualys Vulnerability Management findings, develops remediation strategies, and executes patch deployments in alignment with established change control processes and maintenance windows. Responsibilities include testing and deploying Windows updates through Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) and manual methods when necessary, as well as creating and managing monthly Software Update Groups (SUGs) for both server and workstation environments. The role ensures deployments are properly scheduled, configured, and aligned with operational requirements, including maintenance windows, reboot behavior, and user notification processes.
In addition to patching activities, this individual implements and maintains Windows Server hardening standards, including secure configuration baselines, reduction of legacy protocols, remote management security controls, and audit logging requirements. They validate remediation efforts through system health checks, Qualys rescans, and compliance reviews, documenting any approved exceptions or compensating controls. The position is also responsible for troubleshooting patch failures and service disruptions, supporting restoration efforts, and conducting root cause analysis when issues arise. Ongoing duties include tracking patch compliance, vulnerability aging, remediation success rates, and recurring findings to support operational reporting and ensure service level agreement (SLA) objectives are consistently met.

Required Skills & Experience
•3+ years of Windows Server administration in an enterprise environment.
•Hands-on experience with Windows patching and vulnerability remediation.
•Experience using Qualys to identify vulnerabilities and validate remediation efforts.
•Experience deploying patches through SCCM/MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager).
•Experience working within formal change management processes, including testing, rollback plans, and change documentation.
•Strong troubleshooting skills related to patching, server issues, and remediation failures.
•Experience implementing Windows Server security hardening and configuration standards.
•Ability to validate patch compliance and vulnerability closure through reporting and rescans.
•Participation in scheduled after-hours maintenance windows as required.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
•Hospital information technology experience strongly preferred; broader healthcare experience preferred.
•Certifications highly desirable: Microsoft Windows Server certifications, CompTIA Security+, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent.
