Job Description

A transportation and logistics client local to the greater Nashville area is seeking a Sr. Director of Accounting & Finance to provide long-term leadership and administration over their Accounting and Finance department. The Sr. Director of Accounting & Finance will serve as a strategic and operational leader for a ~400‑employee, multi‑state organization, overseeing all core accounting and finance functions. This role is responsible for overseeing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, internal controls, and day‑to‑day accounting operations including AR and AP. The leader will manage and develop a small team while partnering closely with executive leadership to drive financial strategy and transparency. A key focus will be improving processes, strengthening controls, and supporting the organization through an ERP transition from UKG to Oracle. The role requires a strong communicator who can promote accountability and clarity across the business while scaling financial operations to support continued growth.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10–15 years of progressive experience in Accounting and Finance, with senior‑level ownership of core functions
• Proven experience leading accounting, finance, budgeting, forecasting, controls, compliance, AR, and AP
• Demonstrated people leadership experience (overseeing a team of ~4+) with strong executive presence
• Multi‑state experience, particularly with complex tax laws across multiple jurisdictions
• Strong ERP experience and advanced Excel proficiency

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Oracle ERP experience, especially during a transition or implementation
• Experience leading process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives
• Background in a growing, multi‑location organization
• Openness to relocation for the right long‑term opportunity
• Track record of long‑tenure or desire for a permanent, long‑haul role
