Job Description

In this role, the Structural Design Engineer will spend their day reviewing piping and equipment loads, performing structural calculations using AISC design formulas, and designing steel pipe supports, hangers, and framing systems to safely transfer loads to the building structure or foundations. They will develop and check hand calculations and software‑based analyses, create and review structural details and drawings, and coordinate closely with piping, mechanical, and MEP teams to ensure supports are properly designed for constructability, thermal movement, and code compliance. The engineer will also respond to design questions, support RFIs, review fabrication and shop drawings, and make design adjustments as projects move from concept through construction.

Required Skills & Experience

•Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline (preferred Structural or Civil)
•4 to 5 years of experience designing steel structures using AISC formulas and standards
•Strong background in pipe support and hanger design
•Working knowledge of:
oAISC Steel Construction Manual
oASCE 7 (load combinations)
oAnchoring and base plate design
•Ability to perform hand calculations and software based structural analysis
•Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams
•Proficiency in structural design and drafting tools (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

•Experience supporting industrial facilities (manufacturing, energy, utilities, process plants)
•Familiarity with piping stress outputs and translating loads into support designs
•Experience with steel connection design
•EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license (or on PE track)
•Experience reviewing shop drawings and fabrication details
•Preferred if from a Nuclear Background or the utilities field
