Job Description

-Design, actualize, and launch embedded software/firmware for microcontrollers, FPGAs, and similar environments.

-Architect Hardware solutions with Electrical Engineers and assist in schematic capture/board layouts.

-Integrate and test embedded software/firmware on embedded hardware.

-Identify and resolve software/firmware related hardware issues through debugging and testing processes.

-Collaborate with multidisciplined engineering and non-engineering team members.

-Create and maintain design specific technical, as well as formal, documentation.

-Interface directly with customers to extract requirements, generate a plan and report status.

Required Skills & Experience

-Bachelor's and four (4) years or more experience

-4+ years in embedded system design, analysis, and testing.

-Familiarity with System Engineering concepts.

-Hands on troubleshooting using test equipment to help isolate problems and ability to generate solutions.

-Fluent in C/C++, VHDL and/or Verilog.

-Experience with Xilinx's FPGA and Development Suites

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-PCB design with Mentor Graphics PADS Layout, Cadence OrCAD PCB Designer, Altium, or Eagle.

-Experience with MATLAB, data manipulation, processing, and visualization.

-FPGA experience using Vivado for Xilinx hardware (FPGAs, SOCs, MPSOCs etc.) or Quartus for Intel products in Verilog and/or VHDL.

-Developing and executing test plans for electronic subsystems.

-Experience with soldering and debugging circuits.

-Hands on lab experience using oscilloscopes, function generators, network analyzers etc.

-Experience with marine hardware including ROVs, UUVs, sonar, arrays, and transducers.

-Familiarity with National Instruments (NI) products including PXI hardware, LabVIEW, CVI, or TestStand.

-Experience with embedded operating systems such as Xilinx's PetaLinux, or RTOS.

-Familiarity with device drivers, on both bare-metal and OS systems, for peripheral sensors/actuators and other devices.

-Experience with communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, or CAN, and other technical standards such as LVDS and SSI.
