Job Description
The Director of Enterprise Data Governance & Controls will lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of the enterprise data governance framework. This role is responsible for ensuring strong governance, compliance, and regulatory controls across data and AI assets, while promoting high standards of data quality, integrity, and trust.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and collaborative leader who can partner across business, technology, risk, and analytics teams, influence senior stakeholders, and embed governance into day to day data and AI delivery.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead Enterprise Data Governance Framework:
Own and drive the enterprise data governance framework, ensuring day to day adherence to policies, standards, and control procedures across data and AI initiatives.
• Data Quality & Controls Oversight:
Establish and enforce best practices across core data quality dimensions including accuracy, completeness, consistency, security, availability/timeliness, and validity.
• Policy, Standards & Metrics:
Define and maintain governance policies, procedures, control frameworks, and standard metrics aligned to regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Operating Model & Governance Execution:
Lead the governance operating model (policies, standards, RACI), steward network, and governance committees, aligned to industry frameworks such as DCAM and DAMA.
• Embed Governance into Delivery:
Integrate governance checkpoints into the data product lifecycle and portfolio management processes to ensure governance by design.
• Enterprise Platform Influence:
Influence the design and evolution of scalable, secure enterprise data and AI platforms to ensure data products meet governance, quality, and compliance standards.
• Ownership, Metadata & Lineage:
Align and enforce data and data product ownership decision rights, and drive enterprise practices for metadata management, cataloging, lineage tracking, and stewardship.
• Leadership & Capability Building:
Coach, mentor, and train internal teams and external partners on data governance and control frameworks, fostering accountability and adoption.
• Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
Identify opportunities to enhance governance processes, manage improvement initiatives, and promote a continuous improvement mindset across the organization.
• Industry Awareness:
Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging standards in data governance, data management, and AI governance.

Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, data analytics, and/or AI governance in enterprise environments
• Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., SOX, GDPR, or similar)
o SOX mandatory
• Expertise in a data lake environment – Databricks, AWS, or GCP
• Proven experience leading enterprise scale, cross functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DCAM, DAMA DMBOK)
• Experience with data ownership, stewardship, metadata management, and lineage practices
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science, Data, Business, or related discipline)
