Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Make Ready Engineer to join their clients growing team. This individual will spend their day conducting field surveys and desk reviews of utility poles, conduits, and aerial or underground pathways to assess existing infrastructure. They will analyze collected data and design make-ready solutions that meet NESC safety standards while supporting fiber optic deployments. The engineer will also review field data for accuracy, identify any gaps or issues, and create detailed make-ready packages and designs for outside plant broadband projects. Throughout the process, they will coordinate internally and manage project timelines, budgets, and contractor performance to ensure high-quality execution. This role blends both office-based design work and field-based inspections, requiring strong attention to detail and collaboration across teams.

Required Skills & Experience

-3+ years of experience with field surveying and utility/telecom infrastructure assessments
-Strong understanding of fiber optic design principles and outside plant (OSP) infrastructure
-Experience creating make-ready designs/packages and working with utility pole attachments and NESC standards

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Experience reading and interpreting utility maps, strand maps, or construction drawings
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office or other engineering/software tools used for reporting and design
-Exposure to NESC standards, permitting processes, or utility coordination
-Engineering or technical background (degree or equivalent hands-on experience)
-Strong communication skills with experience coordinating across internal teams, contractors, or utilities
