Job Description
The SAP Functional Consultant will support strategic SAP Finance projects and system enhancements within a major banks Finance group. This role acts as a subject‑matter expert across S/4HANA Finance, MDG, Group Reporting, and related SAP capabilities. Responsibilities include gathering and analyzing business requirements, evaluating solution options, developing functional specifications, and partnering with Technology to design and validate solutions. The Functional Consultant will manage multiple concurrent enhancement initiatives, provide functional issue analysis, communicate recommendations to senior leadership, and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, vendors, and cross‑functional partners. The role requires strong problem‑solving skills, the ability to simplify complex concepts, and effective communication to support project delivery and decision‑making.

Required Skills & Experience
- 10–15 years experience in project environments
- Experience with systems development lifecycle & testing lifecycle
- At least one end‑to‑end implementation and one production support project
- Strong functional knowledge in:
S/4HANA Finance (GL, AR)
Chart of Accounts data mapping & multi‑GAAP
SAP Group Reporting (close & consolidation)
Intercompany eliminations
SAC reporting with CDS views
SAP MDG (configuration, workflow, master data modeling, Fiori UI)
Data load configuration
Average Daily Balance & multi‑currency accounting
Financial services subledgers (FPSL, FCL)
Integration with upstream/downstream non‑SAP systems
SAP SDI data mapping
S/4HANA Finance enterprise data structures
- Understanding of ABAP enhancements, BRF+, BW (hands‑on is an asset)
- Understanding of HANA DB concepts, SQL, data transformation
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Preferred: MS Project, Teams, SharePoint
- Knowledge of CIBC technology infrastructure (asset)
- Familiarity with CIBC EDF (Enterprise Delivery Framework)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Microsoft Project, Teams, SharePoint experience
- FPSL experience
- FCL experience
