Quality Assistant
Data Center Construction Project
Position Summary
The Quality Assistant supports the Quality Manager and project team in implementing and maintaining the project's Quality Management Program (QMP) on a large-scale data center construction site. This individual is responsible for coordinating inspections, maintaining quality documentation, tracking deficiencies, supporting audits, and ensuring all work complies with project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable building codes.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both field and office environments while collaborating with superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and client representatives.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Documentation & Administration
Maintain project quality records, inspection reports, test reports, and turnover documentation.
Ensure all quality documentation is accurately organized and uploaded into project management systems.
Track Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, inspection reports, and quality-related correspondence.
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of project quality control plans and procedures.
Support project closeout activities, including collection and organization of turnover packages and as-built documentation.
Field Quality Support
Perform routine field walks to verify work is being completed according to approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Assist with inspections of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning activities.
Document quality observations, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
Monitor installation activities and verify compliance with approved methods and procedures.
Capture photographs and maintain records of completed work and quality issues.
Inspection & Testing Coordination
Coordinate inspections with subcontractors, third-party testing agencies, and authorities having jurisdiction.
Schedule and track quality inspections throughout construction.
Assist in monitoring material testing and quality verification processes.
Ensure inspection and testing results are properly documented and filed.
Deficiency Management
Maintain project punch lists and deficiency logs.
Track open quality issues through completion and closure.
Follow up with subcontractors to ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.
Provide regular status updates to the Quality Manager and project leadership team.
Quality Meetings & Communication
Participate in quality meetings, pre-installation meetings, first work inspections, and project coordination meetings.
Assist with compiling quality metrics and reporting for project leadership and clients.
Communicate quality concerns and observations to project stakeholders.
Support collaboration between field operations, engineering, commissioning, and client teams.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Help ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and applicable codes.
Support quality audits and internal reviews.
Assist in identifying recurring issues and opportunities for process improvement.
Promote a culture of quality throughout the project.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
1-3+ years of construction, quality control, inspection, or project administration experience.
Experience supporting commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or data center construction projects preferred.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
Experience with construction management platforms such as Autodesk Build, Procore, BIM 360, or similar software preferred.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Data center construction experience.
QA/QC internship or field experience.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Knowledge of commissioning, MEP systems, or mission-critical infrastructure.
Familiarity with quality management systems and inspection/testing procedures.
