Job Description
An employer is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work onsite in Batavia, OH. In this position, you will be responsible for performing complex engineering assignments related to the research, design, and development of plastics processing machinery. The opportunity for increased independent decision-making and action will come with experience and familiarity with the equipment and market.
Work You’ll Do:
• Contribute to the overall machine concept and layout
• Engineer and lead system and subassembly design
• Develop cost-effective designs that meet specification criteria and performance requirements
• Assist in debugging designs and machinery
• Responsible for the preparation of product or system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics
• Check designs and details for technical accuracy and recommend revisions or concept expansion for problem resolutions
• Provide technical support for manufacturing and assembly
• Develop test plans and experimental programs.
• Confer with Validation, Run-off, and other engineering personnel and prepare design modifications as required
• Liaison with customers or vendors as required, exchanging information on product or system capability
• Have an understanding of estimating time on tasks, setting priorities, planning short term and long-term goals, project monitoring, and time management

Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of mechanical design engineering in capital equipment or heavy machinery
- Knowledge and understanding of the use of computer assisted design equipment – Example: Creo, Windchill, and Mathcad
- Mathematical knowledge and application to mechanical, hydraulic, electromechanical, and electrical equipment design.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

- Plastics industry experience is a plus
