Day to Day:
Insight Global is looking for a packaging engineer that will manage supplier‑produced packaging for automotive exterior components, ensuring containers meet production, quality, and logistics needs. They support program launches from first shots through production, resolve packaging issues, analyze part/container data, and coordinate cross‑functionally with molding, paint, assembly, purchasing, and logistics. Strong communication and problem‑solving are essential.
Compensation: 80k-90k/ year

• Manage packaging suppliers and timelines from first shots to production launch.
• Troubleshoot packaging quality issues and support continuous improvement.
• Validate container functionality for molding, paint, and assembly operations.
• Analyze part dimensions and optimize container/trailer utilization.
• Collaborate with purchasing, logistics, and production teams.
• Support material flow optimization and value stream mapping.
• Use SolidWorks and related tools to evaluate packaging solutions.

Required Skills & Experience
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's in Engineering Science/Technology or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 3–10 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, packaging engineering, or similar environments.
• Ability to manage suppliers and ensure packaging meets internal/external production need.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, data analysis) and all Microsoft platforms.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks.
• Experience working cross‑functionally with molding, paint, assembly, purchasing, and logistics teams.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interpret underlying issues and facilitate conversations, specifically critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Preferred:
• Experience in automotive exteriors (fascias, bumpers).
• Background working with OEMs or Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers
• Familiarity with SolidWorks (required), SpinFire, and AutoCAD.
• Experience with PFMEA, lean manufacturing, or value stream mapping.
• Exposure to material flow optimization and advanced materials planning.
