Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer / Technical Lead to join our HR IT team, supporting Human Resources, Benefits, Corporate Communications, and related business systems. This role replaces a retiring technical lead and will serve as the primary technical authority for a small development team.
The ideal candidate is a strong backend engineer with proven leadership experience, deep knowledge of modern .NET systems, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and applied AI capabilities. This role partners closely with HR stakeholders while leading development teams through technology refresh, modernization, and migration initiatives.

What You’ll Do

Serve as technical lead for HR application systems, owning architecture, design, and implementation decisions
Lead and mentor a team of 4 developers, providing technical direction and hands-on guidance
Design, build, and maintain enterprise backend systems (approx. 90% backend / 10% frontend)
Drive technology refresh and migration efforts, including modernization of legacy .NET applications
Collaborate with HR and business stakeholders to translate requirements into secure, scalable solutions
Lead complex systems analysis and development across the full SDLC
Define and enforce standards for CI/CD, cloud deployment, documentation, and code quality
Maintain accurate, clear, and up-to-date technical documentation
Evaluate new tools, platforms, and architectural approaches
Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance, automation, and business outcomes

Required Skills & Experience

7+ years of professional software development experience
Strong backend expertise in .NET Core (v8 required; v10 preferred) and some front end (React or angular)
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or equivalent)
Hands-on cloud development and deployment experience (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable)
Applied AI experience, including AI/ML integrations or AI-enabled applications
Proven experience as a technical lead or senior contributor on complex systems
Experience building and supporting RESTful APIs and enterprise applications
Demonstrated ability to mentor developers and lead technical discussions
Strong written and verbal communication and technical documentation skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Frontend experience with Blazor
Experience with microservices or distributed systems
Strong background in database design and data integrations
Experience supporting HR, Benefits, or internal enterprise systems
Experience leading large-scale modernization or migration initiatives
Familiarity with security, compliance, and enterprise governance standards
