Job Description
A government supporting company is seeking a Platform Engineer to sit onsite for Kubernetes and platform engineering efforts. Day to day work includes hands on container hardening, runtime security, and development of admission webhooks and CRDs, while working closely with a subcontractor that currently provides the underlying platform. The role focuses on tailoring, securing, and evolving that platform to meet KBR and customer specific requirements. The engineer will operate with a high degree of autonomy and authority, guiding technical direction for secure containerization and platform delivery. Roughly 80% of the work is internal team collaboration, with limited direct customer interaction. The role includes demoing capabilities, gathering team feedback, and iterating quickly in a fast paced environment.

Required Skills & Experience
• 12+ years of Software Engineering experience with 6+ years with Kubernetes experience
o knowledge and hands on production ownership in:
o Container hardening
o Runtime security
o Dynamically provisioned persistent storage
o Autoscaling workloads
o Admission webhooks
o Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs)
• Ability to act as the authoritative technical decision maker for Kubernetes and platform security
• Experience hardening and tailoring an existing platform (not greenfield) to meet customer requirements
• Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience operating in classified or air gapped environments
• Service mesh experience (Istio / Envoy)
• eBPF / Cilium networking exposure
• Secure software supply chain experience (SBOMs, image signing, provenance)
• Prior DoD / Air Force platform or mission system support
• Exposure to autonomy, C3BM, or advanced mission platforms
