Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a CAD Technician III for one of our leading precast concrete manufacturing clients. This senior-level role will be responsible for developing and coordinating production models and erection drawings for complex precast concrete projects. The CAD Technician III will serve as a technical resource throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring drawing accuracy, maintaining project schedules, and collaborating with engineering, drafting, construction, and production teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
The ideal candidate brings strong Revit and drafting expertise, a deep understanding of construction documentation, and the ability to lead coordination efforts across multiple stakeholders. This individual will play a key role in overseeing project execution, resolving technical challenges, mentoring team members, and driving projects forward in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves

High School Diploma or GED
4+ years of drafting, design, or CAD experience within construction, structural, precast, or related industries
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, shop drawings, and erection drawings
Strong understanding of drafting standards and modeling best practices
Solid math skills and ability to visualize assemblies and construction sequencing
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Highly organized and detail-oriented

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Develop initial 3D models and erection drawings from architectural, structural, and trade partner documents
Produce and review steel assemblies, embedded hardware details, connection drawings, and production documentation
Collaborate with design, engineering, and architectural teams to ensure drawings and models are accurate, complete, and production-ready
Coordinate with architects, engineers, general contractors, and internal stakeholders to support project success and minimize delays
Manage project flow by monitoring schedules, milestones, and key deliverables
Lead project coordination meetings and help resolve issues affecting production, scheduling, or design
Perform project checker responsibilities including reviewing assemblies, piece tickets, details, and production drawings for accuracy
Ensure proper data flow between Revit and production management systems while maintaining drafting best practices
Coordinate with outsourced drafting and engineering partners as needed
Review and support pour sheets, material orders, and project documentation
Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance
Support continuous improvement initiatives and special projects as assigned

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Nice to Have

Associate's Degree or Technical Degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field
Experience within the precast concrete industry
Experience using Concrete Vision or similar production software
Previous experience serving as a project checker or leading drawing reviews
Experience coordinating outsourced drafting or engineering resources
Leadership or mentoring experience
