Job Description
As Consulting Software Engineer (Search), you will be dedicated to the creation of next-generation search relevance techniques and strategies , dramatically improving how our users search and find the answers to their research questions. You will bring your own perspective on how to solve a variety of internal and external opportunities. You should be versatile, display leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic to tackle new problems as we continue to push technology forward.
Day to Day
• Design, build, and enhance next generation search relevance techniques that improve how users discover answers to complex research questions
• Develop and refine search strategies that balance precision, recall, performance, and scalability
• Bring new ideas and technical perspectives to solve both internal platform challenges and external customer needs
• Collaborate closely with product, data, and engineering partners to translate business goals into effective search solutions
• Analyze search behavior and relevance metrics to continuously improve search quality and user experience
• Take ownership of complex technical problems and lead solutions from concept through delivery
• Contribute to architectural discussions and help shape the future direction of search technologies
• Stay current on emerging search, relevance, and information retrieval trends and apply them where impactful

Required Skills & Experience
• Strong experience designing and implementing search relevance solutions or search driven applications
• Solid background in software engineering with the ability to build scalable, maintainable systems
• Experience working with modern search technologies (e.g., Solr, Elasticsearch, or similar platforms)
• Ability to think strategically about search quality, ranking, and user intent
• Proven problem solving skills with the confidence to propose and defend technical approaches
• Demonstrated leadership qualities, including ownership, collaboration, and technical influence
• Comfort working in a fast evolving environment and tackling ambiguous or complex challenges
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience improving search relevance through tuning, ranking strategies, or analytics driven experimentation
• Background in large scale, data intensive, or enterprise platforms
• Exposure to cloud based architectures and distributed systems
• Familiarity with relevance evaluation techniques, A/B testing, or search metrics
• Interest in mentoring others or helping raise engineering standards across a team
