Job Description

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer - GIS Switchgear. This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.

You will analyze customer’s technical specifications, one-line diagram, and schematic diagram regarding the application of Siemens MV switchgear products along with associated protection and control systems and design appropriate product solutions to meet the customers’ expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Work independently or as part of a project team to create all engineering documents for customer approval and manufacturing of Medium Voltage switchgear.
Utilize the engineering switchgear configurator software to prepare, one-line drawings, control schematics, and bill of material with a high degree of accuracy.
Be a technical project leader taking full ownership of the overall deliverables.
Provide factory support during the manufacture of your projects to ensure that the final deliverable is true to your design. Provide technical support to our service teams and/or to customers as required.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
1-4+ years of proven experience working with the design/configuration of electrical power distribution products and systems with emphasis on medium voltage switchgear.
Strong working knowledge of standard protection and control technologies used in medium voltage distribution products with proven ability to share this knowledge with others.
Electrical drafting experience with Engineering Base, ELCAD, and/or AutoCAD Electrical, or similar.
Ability to analyze customer’s technical specifications regarding the application of protection and control systems and apply appropriate product solutions to meet the customers’ expectations in a cost-effective timely manner.
Ability to read, understand one-line, and evaluate electrical schematics to identify errors or potential improvements.
Ability to multitask and manage large workloads and business demands.
An ideal candidate is detail-orientated, process-driven, and able to embrace a culture of quality.
Must be in or willing to relocate to the Raleigh/Wendell, NC area.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

A master’s degree in electrical engineering is a plus with extra consideration given if the degree concentration is in power systems.
Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for MV Switchgear.
Experience with electrical design for medium voltage switchgear, preference given to experience with Siemens switchgear. Experience with Gas Insulated Switchgear.
Experience creating and working with smart CAD blocks.
