Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Network Engineer to support and maintain a large-scale, enterprise-level data center network. This role focuses heavily on Layer 2 (L2) network operations, including troubleshooting, installs, cabling, audits, and device decommissions, with an emphasis on the ongoing transition from Cisco Nexus to Arista data center hardware.

This position is ideal for candidates with foundational experience in Cisco Nexus environments who are eager to expand their expertise with Arista platforms and grow within a highly dynamic, large-scale data center setting. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers, network designers, and cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient network operations.

Key Responsibilities
1) Layer 2 Network Operations & Troubleshooting
o Serve as an initial point of contact for L2-related technical issues, including port configuration, patching, decommission requests, and incident response generated by network alerts.
o Analyze and resolve L2 network issues such as connectivity, performance, and configuration problems.
o Utilize network monitoring and alerting tools to identify, troubleshoot, and remediate network anomalies.

2) Network Device Installs, Maintenance & Decommissions
o Install, configure, and deploy network devices (switches, routers, and related data center hardware) in alignment with established standards and best practices.
o Support routine network maintenance activities, including upgrades, reboots, hardware replacements, and migrations.
o Safely decommission network devices and cabling, ensuring proper documentation and updates to network records.

3) Patching, Cabling & Physical Infrastructure
o Perform network patching and labeling for devices and ports across the data center.
o Plan, install, verify, and maintain copper and fiber cabling infrastructure.
o Conduct physical hardware audits and verifications to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational readiness.

4) Network Audits & Documentation
o Participate in internal L2 network reviews and conduct periodic network audits to assess performance, security, and adherence to company and industry standards.
o Document installs, changes, and decommissions, and generate reports with recommendations for improvement.

5) Change Management & After-Hours Support
o Participate in external Change Board discussions and technical review meetings as required.
o Support after-hours change requests, including port turn-ups, port defaults (decom), migrations, and other network-related activities.
o Participate in a rotating On-Call schedule (Thursday to Thursday) to support after-hours incident response.

6) Collaboration & Team Engagement
o Work closely with senior network engineers, network designers, architects, system administrators, and security teams on complex designs and troubleshooting efforts.
o Collaborate across teams to support large-scale migrations (Cisco to Arista), audits, and operational initiatives.
o Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the network engineering team.
