Job Description

Day to Day:
Insight Global is seeking a Product Owner for a customer in the Apex, NC area. In this role, you will be the voice of the customer and the content authority within your Agile team, ensuring that features and stories deliver clear business value aligned to the company’s product roadmap and technology strategy.
You will work as part of the Agile Trio – partnering with the Value Stream Architect (technical authority) and Scrum Master (execution authority) – to define, prioritize, and deliver solutions that integrate hardware, firmware, cloud, and application layers into a seamless customer experience.

In the near term, your focus will be on backlog excellence and delivery predictability, ensuring stories are well-defined, prioritized, and ready for sprint execution. You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, DevOps, QA, and Program leadership (RTEs and STEs) to coordinate release readiness, manage cross-team dependencies, and support successful Program Increment (PI) planning. This is a highly visible role that requires systems thinking, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate business objectives into actionable technical stories. The ideal candidate brings a solid understanding of full-stack IoT development, curiosity about the customer experience, and a passion for building products that connect innovation with purpose.

Responsibilities:
• Serve as the Product Owner within an IoT value stream (Applications, Backend, Edge, or Smart Devices), managing and prioritizing the product backlog to deliver maximum business value.
• Partner with the Agile Trio (Value Stream Architect and Scrum Master) to define and refine epics, features, and user stories that align to product and architectural objectives.
• Translate high-level product roadmaps and business requirements from Product Management into clear, actionable development priorities.
• Define and maintain high-quality user stories, acceptance criteria, and definition of ready/done to ensure clarity across the development team.
• Facilitate and contribute to backlog refinement, PI Planning, and iteration reviews, ensuring the team delivers consistent, predictable value.
• Collaborate with RTEs, STEs, and Program Managers to identify and manage cross-team dependencies and ensure alignment of value-stream deliverables with integrated IoT releases.
• Work with DevOps, QA, and engineering teams to ensure release readiness, validation of feature acceptance, and adherence to quality standards.
• Partner with Product Management to measure business value, validate solution outcomes, and ensure traceability between strategy and delivery.
• Continuously assess and improve backlog management processes, team velocity, and feature throughput using Agile metrics and feedback loops.
• Support Inspect & Adapt sessions and retrospectives by providing data-driven insights into delivery performance and improvement opportunities.
• Engage with engineering and architectural teams to ensure technical feasibility, compliance with design intent, and scalability of solutions.
• Demonstrate curiosity and ownership by maintaining awareness of how your value stream connects across the full IoT stack – from device through cloud to customer application.
