Job Description

The Human Resources/Payroll Generalist is responsible for supporting daily HR operations and administering payroll processes while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role serves as a key resource for employees and management regarding payroll, benefits, employee relations, recruitment and onboarding. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to maintain confidentiality while delivering excellent employee service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
• Process bi-weekly payroll, including 1099s and exceptions, accurately and on schedule.
• Review and verify employee timekeeping records, pay rates, deductions, and tax withholdings.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with wage and hour laws.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate payroll changes related to new hires, terminations, promotions, and benefit deductions.
• Prepare payroll-related reports and assist with audits (e.g. 401k, ACA, 1095)
Human Resources Administration
• Coordinate recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and onboarding.
• Conduct new hire orientation and facilitate onboarding processes.
• Maintain employee personnel files and HR records.
• Assist with employee relations matters and provide guidance on company policies and procedures.
• Administer leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other leave requests.
• Assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and employee communications.
Compliance and Reporting
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
• Assist with workers' compensation claims and unemployment claims administration.
• Support HR audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
Compensation: $60k - 70K Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

Education:
Associate's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience
3–5 years of experience in human resources and payroll administration.
Experience processing payroll using payroll software (ADP TotalSource) and HRIS systems.
Healthcare industry experience preferred (if applicable).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong knowledge of payroll practices, wage and hour laws, and employment regulations.
• Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP).
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Certifications (Preferred)
SHRM-CP, PHR, CPP (Certified Payroll Professional), or related certification.
